DockATot: Is It Worth It?

***I received a DockATot in exchange for an honest review. This post contains affiliate links, find out what that means here.***

Before I begin this review I would like to emphasize that I am in no way a healthcare provider or an infant sleep specialist. I am only sharing what has worked for me and my family.

Co-Sleeping Probs

When my oldest was born, I had no intentions of co-sleeping. As a matter of fact I swore I would not co-sleep because I knew how hard it would be to get her out of my bed once she was older. However, once I began breastfeeding I seen how much easier it was to just keep her by my side at night.

Fast forward to her turning 2 years old and just now getting into her own bed, I wished that I had something to help me transition her to sleeping alone sooner. So when my youngest was born and I once again had a baby sleeping in my bed, I started looking for ways to make her transition into her own bed go much smoother than her sister’s.

This is where the DockATot comes into the story. My 6 month old is a lot like her big sister in that she loves to be snuggled and wants to sleep on mommy or daddy ALL THE TIME. If you have a baby like this, you know how hard it is to get anything done. Well after receiving my DockATot I can say that I have been granted some freedom (during nap time at least).

What is a DockATot?

If you haven’t heard of it before, a DockATot is a multifunctional baby lounger. It was created with the womb in mind so it creates a nice cozy space for your baby or toddler. If you co-sleep, you’ll find that it allows your baby to feel almost like they are being cuddled in your arms and it helps them stay asleep longer.

If you’re not a fan of co-sleeping you can still use the DockATot during the day for your baby to lounge and relax in and you can even use it to facilitate tummy time. The DockATot was tested for breathability but you should not leave your baby in it unsupervised.

My Dock Experience

I received the Deluxe Dock+ and it’s for babies 0-8 months. I was actually worried about the sizing because my daughter is pretty chunky for her age and I didn’t know if she would fit too big in the Deluxe+ but it’s actually perfect and I can see her using it for a while because it has an adjustable buckle at the bottom.

The design I got was Bananas For You and I absolutely love the pattern. Another great thing about the DockATot is that you can buy different covers and they are easily washable, which every mom of littles knows is an important feature.

I think my most favorite thing about the DockATot is that it is portable. It can be carried around as you’re doing housework and it can even come with you on road trips. It takes away the stress of figuring out where the baby is going to play or sleep when traveling and that in itself is huge.

Is it Worth it?

I’m a very cheap person and I usually don’t splurge on products unless I know they’re worth it. After being able to test out the DockATot for my baby, I can honestly say that I wish I had used one for my first born as well. It keeps my daughter asleep unlike anything else I’ve tried and I also think it will help me with transitioning into her own bed. If you have it in your budget to get one, I would definitely recommend investing in a DockATot.

  1. I have always wanted a Dock A Tot but did not purchase as it was so expensive. So it’s nice to see how it has benefited you. My first little man was not an easy napper so we shall see with my second boy who is due here soon! Maybe this post will convince my husband? Haha!

    1. Yes it’s so hard to fork over large amounts on baby products! Especially if you’re not sure if it’ll be right for your baby. Good luck and congrats on your new addition mama!

  2. We really loved our dock a tot! It is a life saver. But most of all I want to say, YOUR BABY IS GORGEOUS!!! That sweet face!! I love it!

  3. great review! I have been interested in seeing what happens with these since the recall of the rock n play sort of highlighted the importance in not using unapproved items for sleep.

    1. Thank you! And yes, that has actually crossed my mind. I have owned swings, bouncy chairs, and other baby loungers and they all say not to leave baby unsupervised while sleeping so really it is up to parents to be cautious whenever baby is sleeping in anything besides a crib!

  4. I have seen these! Will definitely keep in mind when we decided to have another baby! That is a cute print!
